Two speeds is the setting that matters most on a child's ATV. Low runs at 1.7 MPH for a first outing on the drive, high runs at 3.1 MPH once confidence arrives, and the switch between them means one machine covers both stages instead of being outgrown in a month. A soft start function eases the take-off at either speed so nobody is thrown back into the seat. Control can be taken two ways: drive-by-button for a child who has not yet mastered a pedal, or drive-by-pedal for one who has. Tires are where a ride-on either works outside or does not. These are reinforced and treaded at 13.5 inches across, puncture-proof and wear-resistant, and they hold their footing across lawn, gravel, brick, and mud rather than spinning at the first soft patch. Wide footrests and anti-slip handles give a young rider two more points of contact for balance. The media center plays music over a wireless connection and picks up radio, and an LED display keeps a battery level indicator in view so a flat pack does not arrive as a surprise mid-ride. A hidden charging port keeps the socket out of the weather and out of curious fingers, and LED headlights add to the realism after dusk. The 24V 5AH battery gives 1 to 2 hours of playtime from an 8 to 12 hour charge on a DC 24V 0.6A charger. The ATV measures 42 by 25 by 29 inches with a 12.5 by 8 inch ergonomic seat, carries up to 77 lbs for ages 3 to 8, and weighs 40.5 pounds in PP and metal. It is ASTM compliant and CPSIA certificated.
